Song by Song™ is growing … so we are hiring!
We are located in Portland, Oregon, and are looking for folks in this same region to join our team. As we expand, we are still developing these positions, so please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions and/or to put your name in the ring. Reach out to us via the form on our Contact page or email email@example.com.
Below are some positions that we are considering filling if we develop the need, have enough work for the person(s) to do, and find the right fit.
Teachers (1-2 positions open)
Classes currently run on an eight-week schedule in Fall, Winter, Spring, and a reduced schedule in Summer. We hold classes in SE Portland and in SW Portland. See our Classes FAQ page for class descriptions, locations, and more. We also currently hold a beginners jam and a mixed-level jam on the first Saturday of the month in inner SE Portland.
Teachers will be considered for all levels of instruction, from beginners to advanced. We are mostly looking for someone with the right mix of a good word ethic, positive attitude, and kind communication skills. In other words, if you are the right person, we will work with the experience you bring to the job.
Many teaching materials are provided to you, and we would love to train you over Summer 2019 to begin teaching in Fall 2019.
Social Media Consultant / Assistant
*May also be a paid position.* We are young at heart, but not so up on the ins and outs of social media and its constantly changing landscapes. Song by Song™ is currently using Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Meetup to reach people, and also has a website blog. We are looking for someone who can help us prioritize, strategize, and organize so we can grow our online following. In exchange for your services, we are happy to negotiate free or reduced cost classes.
Have you been attending our monthly jams at Artichoke Music? Are you familiar with jam environments? Are you willing to learn how to lead a group in playing a song together? We are currently looking for a group of on-call subs for our monthly jams, to lead in pairs, and with at least a month’s notice. This a great opportunity for those wanting to play a more active role in fostering a music community, as well as deepen their musicianship. In exchange for leading a jam, we’d love to say “thank you” with a free private lesson to work on material of your choice.
Many of you know we have an adorable Baby Boo at home, born September 2018. In order for us to get some work time in together, we are looking for folks willing to watch him in 2-3 hour blocks, either on a weekday or weekend. In exchange for your valuable playing, reading, and stroller-walking, we are happy to negotiate free or reduced cost classes.
